THE LOWER BASILICA The lower Basilica, completely renewed, was unveiled on 19th may 1988. The beautiful Altar-piece, which represents the Holy Heart of Jesus, is by L. Filocamo; the vestments and vessels made of polychrome marble and the glass windows of the Curch are by A. Marocco; the frontal representing the Last Supper and the statues displaced in several parts of the Curch are by E. Pellini. Walking through the right transept under the pillars, where a Saint Maria Maddalena by C. Vincenzi is, you will arrive to the venerated grave of the blessed Maria Teresa Fasce.

THE MIRACULOUS SIGNUM OF "CORPUS CHRISTI" The Relic or Miraculous Sign stands in witness of a fact happened in Siena in 1330 in the presence of the blessed Simon. A priest, who was bringing the Viaticum to an invalid farmer, irriverently put the Consecrated Host amid the pages of his breviary and went to the invalid. Opening the breviary to administer the Holy Communion he found that the host had liquefied into blood impregnating both pages. Destrought, he went to confession to the blessed Simon, admitted his sign and, being absolved, gave him his breviary. One of the two pages given by the blessed Simon to the Convent of Perugia was last during the Napoleonic Age; the other one, which stuck to the consecrated host, was brought to Cascia by Simon, now laying in a shrine of the lower Basilica.
